Lloydspharmacy has around 1,700 pharmacies across the UK.  These are based predominantly in community and health centre locations.  The company employs 17,000 staff and dispenses over 145 million prescription items annually.

Lloydspharmacy is the trading name of Lloydspharmacy Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Celesio AG based in Stuttgart. Celesio is one of the leading trading companies and service providers within the pharmaceutical market worldwide.

The group is active in 28 countries and employs more than 45,000 people in its three divisions Patient and Consumer Solutions, Pharmacy Solutions and Manufacturer Solutions.

Lloydspharmacy which is a community pharmacy has primary care at the heart of its business.  This is why we have launched a range of products aimed at improving community health such as affordable blood pressure monitors, as well as a suite of convenient professional health check services including free blood pressure and diabetes testing, and cholesterol and heart checks in the comfort of a private consultation room.

Our History
During our history, the good-will of esteemed companies such as Savory & Moore, Allens Chemist, Cross & Herbert, R Gordon Drummond, Kingswood GK, and of course Lloyds Chemist and Hills Pharmacy have collectively given our business an enviable footing on which to go forward.
 
Our parent company, Celesio AG purchased AAH plc (the UK’s leading pharmaceutical wholesaler) in 1995, and then in 1997, acquired Lloyds Chemists PLC, which at the time had 902 pharmacies. Together with AAH’s 350 strong Hills Pharmacy network, this took the combined group to over 1,250 pharmacies. This has now grown to over 1,700 pharmacies within the UK, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.

The Lloydspharmacy vision is to go from a good pharmacy business to a great healthcare brand and in doing so be acknowledged by our customers, employees, suppliers and the NHS as the UK’s leading pharmacy multiple in the provision of healthcare and related products and services to the community.

What do we believe in?
Lloydspharmacy recognises the wider determinants of health and the impact that social and environmental factors have on people’s health. A community pharmacy should do more than simply dispense medicines. A strong emphasis should be placed on helping people maintain their own health and wellbeing.

At the hub of the local community, the pharmacy is ideally placed to help people make informed social and health decisions. This role also supports NHS priorities, not only in relation to minor ailments, but also as part of an integrated strategy to combat major diseases such as diabetes, coronary heart disease and respiratory conditions, areas where Lloydspharmacy already provides innovative services.

Championing People’s Health
Lloydspharmacy continues its leadership in ‘championing the health’ of the UK consumer by providing healthcare services in pharmacy including:

• Free Type 2 diabetes screening tests: over 1.25 million people tested to date

• Free blood pressure tests: over 1.5 million people tested to date 

• Medicines Use Reviews: over 500,000 conducted

• Cholesterol and Heart Check service available in over 600 pharmacies with 18,700 tests conducted to date
