If you’re looking for ways to lose weight, make sure to talk to your GP or diabetic nurse first. The best way to lose weight safely is through changes to your diet and exercising. But, there are also products that can help if you need them.

If you’ve been considering weight loss products you might have been considering meal replacements, which are products that are substitutes for a meal that can come in the form of drinks, soups or bars. But can they help if you’ve been diagnosed with diabetes? Two recent studies have shown the effect of meal replacements, and total meal replacements on living with type 2 diabetes.

In a study last year of 202 participants, researchers showed the effectiveness of Almased through a Telemedical Lifestyle Intervention Program lasting 52 weeks.* The outcomes of this were extremely positive, with significant improvements in long-term blood glucose levels, fasting blood glucose, body weight, BMI, blood pressure, CVD risk factors, quality of life, eating behaviour and antidiabetes medication (all after 12 weeks of the intervention) versus the control group.
